FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are you thinking about booking a session? Want to know what to expect and how it works? Let’s break that down and answer some FAQ while we’re at it!
What to expect for seniors…
Seniors are my favorites! Once you contact me we will pick a date for the session, and a date for an in-person consult with seniors and parents to plan your session. I feel that an in-person meeting is critical. I don’t want the first time they meet me to be at their session right before I pick up my camera. Senior year for many is both a fun time and a scary time, and let’s face it-for most of us it’s nerve-racking to be alone in front of the camera for a length of time even as an adult. Breaking the ice is crucial. We’ll talk about ideas, locations, outfits, hobbies they may want to incorporate, and many other things you’ll need to know to prep for the session. Based on the plan we make together, we’ll decide on a time at that point. *Girls-if you need hair and makeup done we have an area for that at the studio. I can even arrange a HMUA for you!
A few days before your session I’ll contact you and make sure our plan is still solid, and ask for pictures of your outfits. If we need to adjust any part of our plan we’ll do it at this point.
About a week after your session, we’ll set up a date and time to view and order your images! This is done at the studio, and everyone who needs to have input on final images and/or products should plan to be there. I encourage purchasing professional prints, wall art, and/or albums for seniors, but I do have all digital “print-it-yourself” options. If you are planning on purchasing prints, think about what you need for yourself, gifts for family, and wallets for announcements if applicable (sizes, how many). It’s also a plus to look at spaces you’d like to fill with your senior’s images on your walls, and take measurements if you need to. Don’t have much wall space? Senior albums are a wonderful way to keep your favorite images without taking up a lot of space!
- “Where can I change outfits?"
-
We have a dressing room in our studio, and I bring a changing tent on locations.
- “What if it rains the day of my session?”
-
I keep an eye on the weather days ahead of our session. However, because our Louisiana weather can often be unpredictable, if rain is in the forecast we normally wait until the day of the session to reschedule.
- “What if I decide that I want a longer session after our consult?”
-
Aside from the 30-minute sessions, I do not book back to back senior sessions. So with a little notice we can easily make that adjustment!
- “Can I bring a friend?”
-
Yes! My suggestion would be to bring a friend that will cheer you on, make you smile, and be a great hype man!
- “Are parents welcome?”
-
Always! I 100% recommend a parent be there! Just a side note about strained parent/child relationships-if your relationship is strained that day (and trust me-I get it!) it could be best to be there but stay back a little bit. Go easy on them and give them a little space for that time. As with any situation, if the subject being photographed is struggling mentally between photographs it will show. Be their cheerleader!
What to expect for families…
Once you contact me we will choose a date for your family session and set up a quick phone call to talk about locations and time. We will go over any other details that apply to the location and/or ages of your children, and talk about any specifics that you may want. Typically, with families I will photograph the whole family, siblings together, individual children, and parents together in a few different poses.
For family sessions I normally choose the best images for your finals and deliver them via online gallery. If you’d prefer to set up an appointment to view and pick your images, we can make it happen!
- “My kid fell and scratched his cheek yesterday. Do we need to reschedule?”
-
Unless it’s a pretty large area with swelling and redness I can usually take that out easily in retouching. Send me a picture and we’ll make sure!
- “What if my kid decides he doesn’t want to participate anymore mid-session?”
-
This happens often with small children. Sometimes breaks are needed, and that’s ok! We don’t make a big deal out of it! We take a break and pick back up when he’s ready.
- “What if it rains the day of my session?”
-
I keep an eye on the weather days ahead of our session. However, because our Louisiana weather can often be unpredictable, if rain is in the forecast we normally wait until the day of the session to reschedule.
- “I’d like to use family property as our location! Can we do that?”
-
Yes, I absolutely love when clients want to use their personal property/home! Because I like to see the light in a location before I shoot there I’ll probably ask to go take a look before.
- “What if my husband decides he doesn’t want to participate anymore mid-session?”
-
Bring beer.
If you have any other questions, send them my way!
